When did you start at Sealy School?
I started in 2013.
Okay, and did they still have houses then?
They didn't, but they got houses again in the time I was at school. So I think it was either my Year 10 or Year 11 that they introduced them, but not when I started, no.
And did the houses go into like you had to wear a different colour tie for a different house?
No, I missed that. My older sister, she had that, but I just had the yellow and black, but now they have a little stripe colour on the blazer pocket for each house.
Did it make you feel more of a different team being part of the house?
I don't think so. I personally didn't like the head of the house too much, and it just seemed to be collecting points. There wasn't really a motivation I suppose for me.
So did they not get anything from having more points, or was it just the points for points?
I think it was just maybe there was. But if there's three houses for the whole school, I didn't think there was much of a prize for us as individuals if you did win
You mentioned about houses, and you didn't say what they were called, what were the called?
One of them was Dean after an ice skater, I personally don't remember his first name …
That would be Christopher Dean.
Okay. There was Whitehead after the Paralympian, Richard Whitehead, who went to our school, and Mackenzie, who's after a teacher that passed away.
All right, because when I was there we had four houses, we had Wilford, which would yellow ties, Woolerton, which would blue ties, Thorsby, which would green ties, and Chatsworth, which were red ties. So it was all about the country estates that were around in the area, not about the people.
