Ruth, can you tell me a bit about how you came to live in Calverton?
I came here through the old Cherry Tree Pub and that then got knocked down and a new small estate happened and I bought one of the new houses on the Cherry - or former Cherry Tree pub about 2018.
Alright, what made you want to live there?
Well I actually work in Southwell, so it was sort of like using it as a commuter village nearest to there. But I had actually seen a house, along Cherry Tree that I wanted but it didn't go, it went so it was fortunate that those houses were built.
And what's good about living in that part of the village?
What's good about living in that part? Well the co-ops nearby and we've got all the amenities like the dentist and the doctors and it's quite a good dental and doctors practice here.
Okay and you go in the co-op often?
Yes I do, I use that now as my main shop because obviously it's well stocked and well supplied yes but I use Sainsbury's sometimes but I don't know the history of all the different shops in in Calverton.
Okay and do you use public transport or do you drive?
I use public transport, I use the Calverton Connection and I sometimes use the 61 so I make sure I use both buses to keep them sustainable and going but I haven't been on the 747 which is the new bus coming in.
How do you get to Southwell? Do you go on the car?
I use the car yes because there's no commuter.
How do you find the commute through the countryside?
Not so bad, it's difficult in the winter time […] but they've put now white lines down on the sides of the road and refresh the middle of the road so at dark it has been quite difficult but yes rural roads can be quite difficult I think at night.
Yeah did you live in a town before?
Yes I did so to get used to the rural roads is quite difficult yes.
