Growing Up, Moving Away, and Coming Back

I moved here with my parents when I was like two years old and lived in Calverton for most of that time. I did go off to university and then around and now I'm back living here again.

What did you like best about living in Calverton?

I think the community is quite nice. Whenever I go to the gym or the leisure, I see the same people and everyone's been really nice, everyone's lovely, even in the shop or the Sainsbury's […] yeah I think that's the best thing, it's a small town but everyone knows each other and gets along.

Do you take partake in any clubs or anything in the village?

I used to go to the leisure a lot when I was younger and I enjoyed that. I did swimming, I went to the gym there. Now I go to a different gym near the Top Club but I think that's the main thing that I do.

What did you think of the swimming pool?

I thought it was great, it was wonderful having somewhere in the village that we could go to a lot. I used to do a lot of swimming and we'd go sometimes up to like Mansfield to like Water Meadows but the majority of time it was just so nice to have somewhere in the village that you could go to on short notice.

When you went to school what was that like in Calverton?

It was good, I went to Sealy for secondary school and then Manor Park and Sherbrook so all kind of in the local area so I didn't have to travel far. I think the school's are generally good, I think they've only got better. I think I've heard good things about Sealy since it's been in an Academy.

Did you like being at Manor Park?

Yeah it was fun, I loved all the teachers that I had there especially. I don't remember like loads from it but from being at the time and speaking to my parents afterwards. I think it was great.

And what about Sherbrooke?

I think the teachers I had there were also great. I can remember quite a bit more from there. I remember getting the new playground equipment there which was like amazing - it made playtime so much more fun and yeah it was generally just a good experience.

When you went to Sealy what houses did they have?

They'd just done like a change, I think they'd gotten rid of all the ties and the houses but we were... We were grouped by something but yeah I can't remember but they'd gotten rid of that. I think we were just split into like two halves of the year and they didn't have ties, I remember we were just giving clip on ties and then because everyone would be yanking on the actual ties, but now everyone would just steal your clip on tie and run away with it and hide it so it was still kind of the same. I think that was... I think yeah they'd just gotten rid of houses and then we just had like separate years.
