Michael, the ex-Calverton bus driver. We moved to the area in 1959 to Oxton and for various reasons we moved to Calverton in 1965. My mother, Morag, was the manageress up at the Pit canteen for many many years. I became a bus driver for Barton in 1993, moving on to the Calverton routes in 1995 where I stayed for 25 years, near enough. I remember very well, the journey from Nottingham, Calverton, sometimes through Woodborough and Lambley, on the number seven.
Always thoroughly enjoyed the people I met, even the ones that could sometimes be a bit awkward. I was the one that would ask people to, could you turn your music down please so that other people can enjoy their journey without having to listen to your music, also the same with loud telephone conversations. I also liked to keep my bus clean. No litter please. I also occasionally stopped when going around the village and would pick litter up. My, somebody saw me once picking a plastic bag out of a tree opposite to Nabarro Court. I continued until 2020 Christmas when I retired from the buses, worked all the way through the pandemic. Anyway, I've got to go now. Thank you very much. Bye bye now.
